In the past 10 years we developped a multiphase flow approach to deal with interactions between solids (porous and non porous) and fluids in the context of finite deformations and shock waves. The approach has shown its ability to describe phenomena such as solid–fluid interaction, heat and mass transfert, detonation or surface tension. The implementation of the solid–fluid model is in progress in the open-source code ECOGEN  dealing with multiphase compressible flows. The first part of the postdoc will be on improving the relaxation procedure using pertinant ODE solvers or variational approach. Then the postdoc will have to implement pertinant solid models in ECOGEN to deal with real cases. The candidate will have to implement complex models of plasticity and damage and to validate the models and the numerical implementation against experimental test cases on concrete, metals and porous EDM3.
