PhD project to assess the full climate impact (incl. soil carbon stock changes, soil N2O emissions, albedo effects, energy partitioning) of different possible forage systems for ruminant breeding (both dairy and meat production) across France. To this end, the successful PhD candidate will develop a representation of relevant pasture and cropping systems in the land surface model ORCHIDEE, and then use the upgraded model to simulate the potential climate impact of different forage systems for present day conditions but also for various future climate scenarios.
